Canvas is a basic and commonly known art material. Painter crops scenery, paints what he sees onto a canvas, and that becomes his artwork. In ‘The Works of Your Hands’ series, likewise, ordinary scenery that we walk past everyday such as moss and tiny plants grow around a ditch cover is re-presented embroidered and carefully crafted paper on a canvas. This new series of works is intended to put a gentle spotlight on such wonderful yet overlooked “artworks” that quietly exist around us, and to bring out the hidden message that we all can have joy and hope for the future by close observation.
