Face The Fake Mirror (S),

Face The Fake Mirror (L)

2011

Fake wooden framed mirrors, fake blond extension, fake far, and glue.

Each countries have their own standards of "beauty" for women; blonde hair and tanned skin are (or were; I do not know the trend over there anymore) regarded in England, and gingery brown hair and pale skin were appreciated in Japan when this work was made. Some people may feel pressured consciously or subconsciously that they have to squeeze themselves into "the mould" which the society made up. Everyday they look themselves into a mirror but through the layer of "fake beauty", that restricts to realise their true beauty, which is original and only one.
